I used to tell people what to do. When I was a marketing consultant, sometimes I did the work for clients, if that was what they wanted, but mostly they wanted me to give them a plan to carry out. So I spent a lot of time telling people what to do. I tried to do that in my blog, too, because that's how you establish yourself as an expert, or so it seemed. The thing is, there's no one guaranteed way that marketing works.

I have this somewhat involved mental ritual for going to sleep at night (as apposed to taking naps and faking naps ). Part of it involves letting go of all the gunk I picked up throughout the day -- the anxiety I picked up from that person on the phone, the annoyance of the people waiting in long lines at the Post Office -- you get the idea.

You know what are helpful? Notes. And lists. Lists of stuff that works for you and stuff to avoid. You know this. I know this, and I do a lot of journaling, and yet it amazes me how all this useful information manages to defy organization for me.That's why I'm writing this: because I need reminders. An example: there is no page.
