A Secret Play Date
Every Tuesday.

Trouble playing.
So. Interesting Play Date with the Society this past weekend. (The next meeting, if you want to join us in the secret lair: April 24.)
I've been, for some time, having Play Practice: finding out what it would be like to Just Play.
Recent Play Dates in this mode have been less than successful, though.
Stuck.
Never really getting going.
Unraveling.
So I decided to unravel that for my Play Date, since I'd be surrounded (virtually) by Society friends.
I started applying the magic of 'Meet Your Project' -- my free audio class includes writing prompts that are ridiculously helpful -- and all sorts of stuff came pouring out.
Including this:
You know how some bloggers feel a pressure to find blogging material in everything they do? So when they go on vacation, they feel compelled to find some lesson in there related to their field, somewhere.
I'm not one of those people, but ...
… when I'm Play-Dating, I do feel a pressure for the experience to make sense, so I can write about it each week. It may not be important to be able to articulate the process all the time, but it is important to have something to describe coherently.
What if that weren't true?
What if it were okay to just post some pictures?
Sometimes what we do in our creative processes can't be explained in words, or at least, not right away.
So here you have some images of impromptu Play Dates that happened when I was visiting museums in Washington, DC last weekend. The kind where I just couldn't help myself, I had to start snapping pictures.

Join me?
You can check in here in the comments or on the Secret Play Date page on Facebook to let us know how you're doing, and give a yay for the people who are joining in.
You don't have to share, though.
You could note it in your journal, or whisper it to the cat, and still feel the glow of being part of a group that does things a little differently for an hour every Tuesday.
And if you're not sure where to start, there's always the Secret Play Date DIY Kit.
Could you use a little Play-Dating today?
And pssst: you can still Play-Date and check in with us, even if it's not Tuesday anymore.
