Last week -- the week of Thanksgiving and the beginning of the holidays, the week of our visitor, and the week of opening the door to 48 --

I took care of myself.

Even before Kylie's Day of Nothing commenced, I had learned so much about me and Doing Nothing.

So it's no surprise that actually experiencing the Day of Nothing brought even more learnings.

Stressed. Crazy, right?

1. I was stressed. Yes, about a day of Doing Nothing.

I'm having a Day of Nothing on Saturday, thanks to Kylie!

I'm so excited about this.

I remember vividly, sitting on the balcony of our hotel room on our honeymoon, drinking coffee and having the blissful revelation that: Doing Nothing is the best.

It still is.

But it's hard to actually make it happen.

The thing about noticing what you need is: it's a never-ending process.

You might think that you've got the perfect routine to support your writing practice, for instance.

But if you keep paying attention, you'll find that -- maybe gradually, maybe all at once -- it doesn't work anymore.

It might be only certain elements, it might be the whole shebang.

You'll notice this same phenomenon with your go-to tricks for soothing and calming yourself when you're upset.

Or your tried-and-true methods for keeping your body feeling good and energized.

Conjuring up clarity, one-on-one with me, to unlock the brilliance inside you.

Why?

To whoosh you forward with warp-speed, dissolving whatever's blocking you on your way to conquering the world.

How?

A Brilliance session gives you the precious time and space to think out loud with a deep, active listening partner (me) who asks the right questions at the right time.

The questions that spark those fireworks in your brain.

I have a mysterious problem with Mondays.

For a number of weeks now, I've noticed that my mood takes a nosedive on Mondays, but I've no idea why.

Sure, it's a common thing to be bummed as the work week begins, but ...

I really like my job. Seriously, how great is it that I get to Play-Date for R&D, and have as many naps as I want?

A couple of weeks ago, we went to an exhibition about the Dead Sea Scrolls because: actual scrolls! When would we ever get the chance to see some of them for real again?

We stood in a lot of lines. That was expected.

What I didn't expect: not being able to experience the show on my own terms.

Before we were even allowed into the galleries, we had to see a short, theatrical history of the scrolls and their discovery, as if we were all equally blank slates.

Once we were let in, we were 'on our own.' Except we weren't.

Cattle chutes.

What do I know about rest?

Well, duh, I need it. I need a lot of rest.

A lot.

I know it's okay that I need a lot of rest. Probably most people do, they just don't recognize it. Like Shannon wrote about thinking one thing is happening when the data suggests otherwise.

I can think of myself as just like most other humans -- we need a lot of rest.

I've encountered this seriously unmet need before.

Back when I was day-dreaming about 2012, I decided that cushions were an absolute must.

Cushions of time and space.

I had run myself into the ground (while still being deliriously happy) teaching overlapping sessions of 'Why Not Now.' It was an experiment and I learned that I just can't cram in that many hours of teaching and preparation and one-on-one sessions without emptying my internal gas tank.

I have a mission!

I'm sure you're thinking, duh. Doesn't everyone with a business or a thing they care passionately about have a mission?

Well, yes, probably.

I guess what I mean is, I can articulate my mission. A month or so ago, I couldn't.

Giving interviews was the key that unexpectedly unlocked it for me.

The obvious question.
