process

I have an eye problem.

Or, rather an 'impending' eye problem. Seriously, that's what it says on my chart. Impending.

So, on a regular basis, I go and have the eye checked out.

It has not been fun.

Ow.

The first time was at the eye ER.

We experienced condescending doctors.

Misleading information about what was to happen next.

Painful exams.

Ridiculously long waits, even though there were hardly any patients there at the time.

Double-ow.

playmobile figures.

The power of working and playing with your stuff in community -- in 'Why Not Now?' for example -- really hit home for me last Saturday, when I was having a Secret Play Date call with the Society.

See, there was a tangled issue in my life that really had me upset.

Sometimes a thing catches your attention.

Maybe it's a book

Maybe it's a blog.

Maybe it's a video

Maybe it's a quietly subversive class

You're drawn to it and yet you resist.

Ever hear this in your head?

If wanted to do it so badly, I would have done it already.

If I really want to write that novel, play the guitar, start a business, train for a marathon, why am I spending so much time doing everything else but?

I guess it's not something I truly want to do.

In 'Why Not Now,' we try to notice the rules we have about our projects.

We all have rules.

Noticing them doesn't obligate us to break them. But it does give us more information.

As I began to untangle my own rules about my project, Permission to be in the Studio, I found a thread connecting my life now to my life back then -- when I was a practicing artist.

And that thread is process.

Ding-ding-ding!

'Meet Your Project' is a tool I'm picking up over and over lately. It just seems to yield so much, so quickly.

This is part of it.

hell yes.

I told you about Project Co-co, my focus for the last session of 'Why Not Now?'*

I used the magic of 'Meet Your Project' on it, and got all kinds of useful information.

tokidoki friends.

I'm in the thick of 'Why Not Now?' currently, the first of only five sessions this year.

And I am there to learn about my project as much as anyone else is.

The project I chose:

To find a co-conspirator (assistant, but actually more) to join me at Kindergarten Mind.
